Tool 31 — Practical Help
Layover length + IST vs SAW + visa fee — should I leave the airport?
Istanbul has two airports (IST on the European side, SAW Sabiha Gökçen on the Asian side), and many international itineraries route through them. A 7-hour layover is enough for a quick Bosphorus view; a 4-hour is not. This tool adds transfer time, visa (if needed), and buffer to tell you whether leaving is worth it.

Yes. Istanbul's airports have showers, sleep pods, restaurants. The IST Yotel is in the terminal.
Most nationalities don't for an airside transit. To leave the airport, the same e-Visa rules apply as a regular tourist entry.
~50 min by Havaist airport bus + tram, or 60–90 min by taxi depending on traffic. From SAW it's a ferry across plus 30 min — a different kind of journey.
